Birkebeinerrennet next up in Visma Nordic Trophy

Birkebeinerrennet next up in Visma Nordic Trophy - the new competition in Visma Ski Classics that includes the five final Nordic events.

Visma Nordic Trophy is a new competition in Visma Ski Classics season VII tour, taking place in the Nordic countries. The competition was initiated by Visma and includes Vasaloppet, Birkebeinerrennet, Årefjällsloppet, Reistadløpet and Ylläs-Levi. Visma Nordic Trophy was kicked off by Vasaloppet March 5 and ends in Ylläs-Levi April 8. Next race in the competition is Birkebeinerrennet March 18.

–Cross-country skiing speaks to our Nordic identity, and it is one of the most popular winter sports in our region. As title sponsor of Visma Ski Classics, we believe Visma Nordic Trophy can create positive experiences between our brand, the skiers and the teams. We look forward to Birkebeinerrennet, says Øystein Moan, CEO Visma.

Birkebeinerrennet

Birkebeinerrennet has been arranged since 1932 and is an event in honour of the rescue of the 18 months old prince, Haakon Haakonsson from the Baglers in 1206. The 54 km long race starts in Rena and ends in Lillehammer.

– Like in business, the Birkebeiners needed to plan and adjust according to their environment to reach their goal. The same characteristics applies to cross the finish line in Lillehammer March 18 and to collect bib points in Visma Nordic Trophy, says Moan.

The top three male and female skiers with highest "yellow bib" Champion points collected through the five Nordic events will be awarded. Visma will hand out prize money of 35.000 Euro after the final race Ylläs-Levi.
