Visma ramps up Iberian presence through acquisition of Moloni

Visma enters the software market in Portugal by investing in Moloni, provider of SaaS solutions to small and medium-sized enterprises.

“It is with great pleasure that I welcome Moloni to the Visma family. We continue to grow our presence in Iberia, with an ambition of being the preferred provider of ERP software for businesses and organisations”, says Merete Hverven, CEO of Visma.

Founded in 2012 by Ruben Costa and Álvaro Saraiva, Moloni provides cloud software solutions for invoicing and point of sale (POS) to more than 30,000 customers in Portugal and Spain.

They will now join forces with Visma, Europe’s number one provider of mission-critical cloud software to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) and the public sector.

“This is the beginning of a new era for Moloni. By joining Visma, we can draw on the collective expertise of one of Europe’s largest software houses, as we continue to grow and develop the company and our products”, says Ruben Costa, co-Founder and co-CEO of Moloni.

Quality and innovation

With an offer of vertical solutions in Portugal and Spain based on cloud tools, APIs and mobile applications, Moloni has targeted SMEs in segments ranging from services to retail, including the restaurant sector.

In addition to the usual control of invoicing, current accounts, stocks, orders and agreed payments, Moloni’s software also provides numerous tools for automating processes, resulting in improved reliability, efficiency and speed.

“Visma’s entry in Moloni will further strengthen the commitment to quality and innovation that has always been in our DNA. The main beneficiaries will be Moloni clients”, says Álvaro Saraiva, co-Founder and co-CEO of Moloni.

Iberian expansion

With the purchase of Moloni, Visma continues to grow its presence on the Iberian peninsula.

Since 2021, the Group has acquired three Spanish providers of SaaS-solutions for accounting, tax and time management, in Holded, Declarando and Woffu.

In Portugal, Visma is already present through its HR software provider Nmbrs, which has a development hub with 35 employees in Lisbon. Visma also opened a new technology centre in Porto in April 2022, with the aim of reaching 200 employees by 2025.

“Visma Tech Portugal” will serve as one of Visma’s main competence hubs, focusing on advancing development in security, AI, and product design using a wide range of technologies.
