A wonderful favorite

Austin House Cafe and Country Store in Bates Oregon has been a favorite of ours for flat iron steaks and smoked prime rib for many years. Chef Jeff is meticulous in his flavoring and presentation. Christy designs our favorite Valentines and Mothers Day feasts. Truly a beautiful drive through the mountain highway to visit Austin House in Bates Oregon.

Could be so much better!

It’s the easiest way to find Michelin-recognized restaurants, but it’s barely better than a list. Stuff to add / improve: - Provide links to restaurant reservation systems. - Fix the Google Maps feature. Currently, when I click to open Google Maps, I get directions instead of a location. And the directions require a starting location (extra typing) so many clicks to find the restaurant on the map. - Allow users to add comments and pictures. - General app clunkiness / GUI issues. Search feature is lame - you can’t search by a region, only by city. Can’t sort results. Etcetera. ——— Note to commenters who complain they can’t find there fav restaurants. Michelin only covers certain areas and expanding to everywhere is EXPENSIVE as you have to pay for every meal an inspector eats. And they have to eat several times at each restaurant. This ain’t the James Beard awards which award by committee of people whose members only eat at a very small fraction of the restaurants.

Eliibobelli thanks for the feedback. A few answers for you:

• Online reservations links exist when they are provided by the restaurant. We feature more than 12 different providers worldwide. If a restaurant does not have a link present then it has not been provided by them.
• The map icon for each restaurant uses Apple maps as the default and is integrated within the app's native iOS functionality - 1 tap away. The directions icon, which you are using, allows users to choose between Google & Apple. You are tapping the directions icon which is why you are seeing that.
• Public comments and pictures from diners have not been a part of the Michelin offering historically as it is a curation but that may change in the future. The main concern here is that there is no verification that the diner has actually been to the restaurant. The hotels however only feature reviews from verified stays.
• Regions and countries are best searched currently by using the map but that will be supported in future releases.
• The Michelin Guide coverage is continually increasing, especially in the US, but we follow a rigid process that takes time. As you note, the consistency factor is an important part of the process. This does however result in areas where there is no selection.

Improvement

The Michelin app could use some more consumer friendly features. Nothing sticks. You can be researching a location for Michelin Starred restaurants in Rome and suddenly you are taken to local restaurants in New York. Leave the site for a minute and you’re taking elsewhere. Also, the app seems to be focused on restaurants all over the world which is good but I’m not interested in the new Michelin star restaurant in Dubai or Hong Kong. If I’m traveling to those countries, then I will search for the restaurants in that country. Maybe there should be a section for the newest additions but don’t push it towards someone who is searching for restaurants in other locations.
