On July 8, Fortinet released fixes for a critical vulnerability in FortiWeb that could allow an unauthenticated threat actor to execute SQL commands via crafted HTTP or HTTPS requests, tracked as CVE-2025-25257. The flaw lies in the Graphical User Interface (GUI) component and stems from improper neutralization of special elements used in SQL statements. The vulnerability was discovered by a security researcher and responsibly disclosed to Fortinet. While Arctic Wolf has not observed any exploitation of this vulnerability or identified a publicly available proof-of-concept (PoC) exploit, Fortinet products have historically been frequent targets for threat actors. The security-focused idea behind MFA is to harden the authentication process, specifically by not solely relying on usernames and passwords. If credentials are compromised and fall into the hands of a threat actor, MFA will often prevent the threat actor from gaining access because credentials alone aren’t enough to achieve a successful login. 🩷 At Infosecurity Europe 2025, Arctic Wolf showcased the power of our AI-driven Aurora Platform, connecting with existing and new customers in our shared goal of building a more resilient future for cybersecurity. We also saw the conference as an opportunity to support a cause very close to the Arctic Wolf community. Helen’s Pink Sky Foundation is a charity created to accelerate research and provide greater support for families impacted by Batten Disease and CLN2. With every scan at our Infosecurity Europe booth, we donated £1 to Helen's Pink Sky, reaching nearly $700 in donations to the foundation. Together, we are committed to driving for a cure. #Hope4Helen To learn more, visit: hope4helen.org

Since early June 2025, Arctic Wolf has observed a search engine optimization (SEO) poisoning and malvertising campaign promoting malicious websites hosting Trojanized versions of legitimate IT tools such as PuTTY and WinSCP. These fake sites aim to trick unsuspecting users into downloading and executing Trojanized installers. Upon execution, a backdoor known as Oyster/Broomstick is installed.
