Last Friday, Lundbeck hosted the 17th ‘Drughunters’ competition and the second edition of ‘Brain Battle’ – two science competitions for aspiring researchers under one roof at our headquarters in Valby, Denmark. Special guest at the event was Morten Bødskov, Denmark's Minister of Business, who together with Johan Luthman, Head of R&D at Lundbeck delivered the opening speeches. “This event is one of my favorite events that are hosted throughout the year at Lundbeck. Every time, I am impressed by these young people and their innovative ideas in the field of neuroscience. We hope that some of these students will choose to pursue research careers as we require skilled talent to further develop our robust life science industry here in Denmark,” says Johan Luthman. After the final poster presentations, four teams from Birkerød Gymnasium, Aarhus Gymnasium Viby, Syddjurs Gymnasium and Aalborg Katedralskole were appointed as winners of the Drughunters competition. Their scientific projects evolved around Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, epilepsy and anxiety and depression. This year’s Brain Battle winner is Beatriz Cruz Luzon. According to the jury, she not only managed to present her topic in a humorous and engaging way but also built a connection with the audience by conveying a strong message about the value of honesty in science. Beatriz herby secured the coveted PhD position at Lundbeck and we’re looking forward to soon welcoming her as our new colleague! Join us at Lundbeck as we celebrate #EarthDay by reaffirming our unwavering commitment to ambitious and science-based climate targets that drive us as we innovate and improve #BrainHealth 🌍. Lundbeck's climate impact is largely tied to the emissions generated by the procurement activity within our extensive supply chain. This is the reason we are working closely with our suppliers to encourage positive change. Our goal is to ensure that, by 2030, all our primary 300 suppliers are powered entirely by renewable energy. Chad Goldsberry, Director of Procurement Commercial Services at Lundbeck, emphasizes the challenges ahead: “It is a challenging journey as the climate action maturity of our suppliers considerably differ. Right now, it is a mix of main suppliers and smaller suppliers that have signed, so there is still a way to go.” In collaboration with our suppliers, we are enhancing Lundbeck’s commitment to emission reduction. However, our efforts do not stop there; Lundbeck has made a pledge to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Watch the video below to learn more about our sustainability approach 👇. #EarthDay #Sustainability

April marks #ParkinsonsDiseaseAwarenessMonth, and at Lundbeck we want to raise awareness about the extensive efforts needed to accelerate breakthroughs essential for improving the lives of millions affected by Parkinson's. Parkinson’s disease is among the most common neurological disorders, with around 1% of the world’s population aged 60 or older living with this condition. The risk of developing Parkinson’s disease increases with age, and as more people are living into old age, there is an overall increase in the number of affected individuals. It is estimated that by 2040, the prevalence of Parkinson’s disease in the US is expected to double compared to 2010. Allow us to introduce you to Sheng Kangshua and Colleen Henderson, two remarkable individuals from our patient community whose journeys inspire us to innovate and create advancements in #BrainHealth. 🧠 Discover Sheng’s and Colleen’s stories as they share their experiences of navigating life with Parkinson’s disease. https://ow.ly/Sp3E50RjBkY #ParkinsonsDiseaseAwarenessMonth. #Parkinsons #Awareness

We are thrilled to announce the launch of “HEAD-WINd”, our innovative public-private partnership in collaboration with the Danish Knowledge Center on Headache Disorders! 🙌 🧠 In Denmark, nearly 1 in 5 adults live with migraine or frequent headaches, yet only a small proportion seek professional healthcare support. Despite the high prevalence of migraine in Denmark, there is still much to learn about life with migraine or frequent headaches. To address this, the Danish Knowledge Center on Headache Disorders and Lundbeck, under the leadership of Agathe Le Lay, Head of Global Value Evidence and Patient Insights, have initiated a research collaboration to contribute to the development of treatment strategies for these disorders. 💡 Commencing this 2024, the “HEAD-WINd” research project will investigate the lives of individuals living with migraines and headaches. This project employs an innovative approach to research by involving 100,000 adult Danes, who will be invited to respond to a headache disorder screener and then use a specially designed app to collect day-to-day data on life with migraine and headache symptoms for 3 months. Follow our journey as we advance healthcare innovation by uniting experts, patients, and scientists to make a positive impact on the lives of millions. https://lnkd.in/eS9fT_zF #EveryBrainInTheGame #PremierNeuroscience

As a leading Danish life science company, Lundbeck takes pride in our contributions to Danish society. Our innovative products, exports, and employment opportunities play a key role, but to continue our growth we are dependent on a positive environment for #LifeScience with high quality education programs within natural science, incentives to invest in research, and better framework conditions for production in Denmark. On April 10th, we had the honor of welcoming around 40 policy makers to our Valby headquarters. Their visit revolved around the upcoming Danish life science strategy aimed to ensure the best possible framework conditions for life science business in Denmark. The policy makers were welcomed by Lars Bang, Executive Vice President and Head of Product Development and Supply, who highlighted our unique site in Valby, which contains our entire life science value chain, from early drug discovery to production and global HQ-functions. After the introduction, the guests explored our complex laboratory research and advanced production facilities, allowing them to gain insights into our business and neuroscience research 🧠. At Lundbeck we value communication with our external stakeholders, and this visit was all about dialogue. The on-site tour created a great opportunity for policy makers to interact with Lundbeck employees to better understand our business and how the government can support the growth of life science in Denmark. A special thanks to all our guests for the great dialogue! We look forward to working with you to shape the best environment for life science in Denmark 🙌. #Neuroscience #LifeScience

Today, on #WorldParkinsonsDay, we want to spark a conversation on the effects of this neurodegenerative disease on patients’ lives. Each journey with Parkinson’s is unique, defying stereotypes and reshaping our understanding of living with this condition. Meet our colleague Johan Hellsten: musician, scientist and person living with Parkinson’s. In 2016, Johan's world shifted when he received a Parkinson's diagnosis. Since then, he’s embarked on a new path - not only as a neuroscientist but also as someone living with the disease. As a Senior Specialist in Patient Insights at Lundbeck Johan aims to remove the stigma surrounding Parkinson’s and to challenge the conventional image of Parkinson’s by amplifying patient and caregiver voices into drug development and disease management. Watch the video below to hear Johan’s story 👇 #WorldParkinsonsDay #Parkinsons #EveryBrainInTheGame
