CEO Johnny Sjöström in SSAB’s financial report for Q2 2025: “SSAB’s operating result for the second quarter of 2025 amounted to SEK 2,140 (2,969) million. The decrease compared to last year was mainly related to lower prices of standard steel. The operating result improved compared to the previous quarter, primarily driven by increased prices for SSAB Americas. The market in Europe saw a weakening and SSAB will take appropriate measures during the third quarter.” Read the full report ➡ https://lnkd.in/dsG4giS5 #Q2 #Q2report

We’re happy to start purchasing high-quality automotive steel scrap from Volvo Cars’ Olofström production plant in Sweden. ♻️ The deliveries will start with a ramp up during 2026 and the full volume from 2027 onward. The scrap will be recycled and used at SSAB’s mill in Oxelösund to produce decarbonized steel. “This agreement marks a significant milestone on our journey toward steelmaking with virtually no fossil CO₂ emissions. The conversion of our Oxelösund site will not only enhance our production competitiveness but also enable us to cut emissions equivalent to 3% of Sweden’s total CO₂ output – and high-quality steel scrap is an important factor in this equation,” said Asma Manesh, Commodity Manager at SSAB. Great being engaged at International Energy Agency (IEA)'s 10th Annual Global Conference on Energy Efficiency in Brussels, explaining how SSAB’s close to five-billion-euro investment in new technology and decarbonized steel production is also an energy-efficient project at its core. We will reduce our energy intensity, improve system reliability, and cut emissions. 🌱 SSAB CEO Johnny Sjöström: “It was an honor to speak at the High-Level Panel on Private Sector Leadership. Energy efficiency is in our DNA – it strengthens our competitiveness, resilience, and innovation. And with the right policy frameworks – access to fossil-free electricity, strong carbon pricing, support for innovation, and smart public procurement – we can accelerate the shift to a net-zero economy.” Thank you to the other distinguished panelists Helen Clarkson, Ditte Juul Jørgensen, Dr. Eva Riesenhuber and Ulrik Gernow! And to IEA and Energy Efficiency Movement, together with colleagues at ABB and Alfa Laval, for your important work in placing energy efficiency at the heart of the global energy transition. 💚 Let’s keep the momentum going and work together to scale solutions that deliver for business and people and get us closer to the COP28 goal to double energy efficiency. #IEA #EnergyEfficiency #IndustrialDecarbonisation

Our green transformation takes new steps again! 🌱 Following the Early Service Agreement signed a year ago, we’ve now signed a contract under which Danieli Group will supply a highly-automated technology solution for our new mini-mill in Luleå, Sweden. The solution will consist of two electric arc furnaces, secondary metallurgy, a caster and strip mill. The investment is an important step in our strategy to establish a leading position in decarbonized special and premium steels. When completed, SSAB will decommission the existing blast furnace-based production system in Luleå. This will reduce Sweden’s CO2 emissions by 7% in addition to the 3% from the Oxelösund mill conversion. Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eMH_Jk9J #SSABLuleå #MiniMill #GreenTransformation
